About the studio
Tender Home Place grew from styling our own terrace near Ancoats — soft rooms that survived two children, wet umbrellas, and long winters.
Then
Friends kept asking how an Ancoats terrace stayed calm with two school-age children and a dog. Mira and Owen Holt swapped stiff showroom layouts for washable textiles and storage that kept period character readable.
Now
The practice sits at 12 King Street so clients can meet between city-centre errands. Most projects still begin with a home visit — Ancoats mills, Northern Quarter flats, Victorian terraces — not a remote mood board alone.

What soft family interiors means here
Soft describes colour, fabric hand, and acoustic calm — not rooms that cannot take wear. We favour rounded seating, layered rugs, and curtains that filter low winter light. Family means layouts that keep homework, play, and cooking in view without turning every surface into spill.
We decline gallery-white emptiness and furniture too delicate for daily rain and school runs.
Manchester shells we know
Converted mills bring wide floors and cold concrete. Northern Quarter flats bring open-plan kitchens with little wall. Victorian terraces bring narrow halls, chimney breasts, and rooms that change character floor by floor. Each shell gets different furniture depth, curtain approach, and colour temperature.
How we work with households
You meet one of us on site for a consultation (£95–£220). We photograph, measure, and note what must stay. Then we prepare a written scheme with shopping lists, paint notes, and layout sketches. Packages from £700 to £3,600 cover single rooms through multi-room refreshes.
